About Marc

Marc brings a diverse and global perspective to the table, shaped by a career that spans multiple countries, industries, and cultures. Having lived and worked around the world, Marc understands the importance of collaboration, cultural understanding, and shared purpose—all of which will inform his approach to serving on the school board.

Originally from New York City, Marc relocated to New Jersey in the 1990s when he joined American Standard. In 1998, he transferred to the company’s air conditioning division, Trane, and moved to the Netherlands as their Europe Controller. During his time in Europe, he gained a deep appreciation for the importance of cross-cultural communication and teamwork, working with colleagues across various countries to build relationships and overcome business challenges. His travels throughout Europe—including visits to nearly every country in Europe as Dubai—broadened his perspective and deepened his understanding of how diverse experiences can contribute to stronger communities.

While in the Netherlands, Marc embraced the opportunity to immerse himself in Dutch culture, learning the language and navigating the practicalities of life in a new country. His time abroad was also marked by personal milestones, including a memorable experience of figuring out how to exist in a new country with a different language, laws, and customs.

In 2001, Marc returned to the U.S. and moved to Nashville to help open the American Standard Shared Services Center. There, he honed his leadership skills, driving improvements in organizational processes and fostering a culture of collaboration. He began his journey to become certified as a Master Black Belt in the Sigma Six methodologies and leadership which focus on collaboration, monitoring the progress of a project, and using data to identify issues to develop solutions.  Later, he continued his work at McDonald’s as a Senior Director of Global Business Services, overseeing international operations and business processes in Europe, Asia, and beyond. This experience gave him a strong foundation in strategic thinking, operational efficiency, and leadership—all of which will be valuable assets in his role as a school board member.

In addition to his professional journey, Marc has had a rich personal experience, including the adoption of his daughter, Madelyn, from China. Their journey to bring her into their family was a life-changing experience, and together, they have traveled to many parts of the world—deepening their appreciation for different cultures and perspectives. Over time Marc and his family visited Spain, Italy, France, China. When Madelyn was older, they traveled to Japan to visit Tokyo, Kyoto, and Nagasaki.

Twelve years ago, Marc and his family made Naperville their home. He has since become deeply involved in the local community, bringing his experience in leadership, process improvement, and international collaboration to various roles. His professional background, combined with his personal experiences as a parent and a global citizen, makes him uniquely qualified to contribute to the school board’s mission of ensuring every student receives a high-quality, well-rounded education.
